Position Overview
The Athletic Director will oversee the entire athletic program, ensuring that we offer high-quality, inclusive, and competitive sports opportunities for all participants. You will work collaboratively with coaches, staff, and local community members to enhance our athletic facilities, promote events, and support the personal growth of our athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive athletic programs for various age groups and skill levels.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff to ensure high performance and athlete development.
- Coordinate and promote interscholastic competitions, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and logistics for all athletic events.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations and guidelines concerning athletic programs.
- Work closely with parents, guardians, and the community to advocate for and raise awareness of the athletic program’s benefits.
- Prepare and manage the athletic department budget, including fundraising efforts and sponsorship procurement.
- Design and implement athlete education programs focused on sportsmanship, nutrition, and mental wellness.
- Regularly assess and report on the program’s success and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with school administration and staff to align athletic goals with overall educational objectives.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in athletic program administration and management, preferably in a school or community setting.
- Strong understanding of coaching techniques and athlete development, with prior coaching experience a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting positively with athletes, coaches, parents, and community members.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to think strategically and create actionable plans that achieve athletic program goals.
- Knowledge of budget management and fundraising strategies.
